A typical antique Persian carpet from the Sultanabad area, in the style and quality attributed to Ziegler, the Anglo-Swiss company (Ph Ziegler & Co.) that pionereed the late 19th century revival of carpet making in Persia, adapting traditional pattern to Western taste with proportions, colours, and motifs uniquely suited to Western interiors, with a classical style able to endure to these days with great success. An exceptional decorative carpet, extremely rare find.
This antique Persian carpet is a “first-class” example of its kind, with a large-scale, floral motif, an all-over stunning palmettes, flower, vine and leafs combination design.
The terracotta field features a shaded abrash, that complements the warm and delicate neutral tones (light azure, ivory, light sand) featured within the bold botanical motif.
